I am a Naval Academy graduate, Class of 1946. Capt USN (Ret.) (Surface Warfare). I was born in Blount County and returned in 1988 to live in Townsend. I served one term as Chair, L.P. of Tennessee and was an Independent candidate for Governor of Tennessee in 2002.

The movement to re-activate the Blount County LP currently consists of an energetic group of Libertarian students attending Maryville College who are supporting George Phillies for President. Izaak Standridge is Group President and Austin Newsom is Vice President. The majority of the members of the Maryville College Group attended the Tennessee LP Convention in Johnson City the last weekend in March. We will endeavor to convince other College Affiliates in Tennessee to become directly involved in their County Party and help us to grow the Libertarian Party in Tennessee.
